Alcatel will introduce three smartphones at MWC 2018

MWC 2018 begins Monday in Barcelona, and Android manufacturers like Alcatel have begun teasing upcoming products. We’re expecting quite a few smartphones to be announced next week, including three from Alcatel.

It’s not often we report on Alcatel around these parts, but the company recently teased a trio of smartphones that will debut on February 24. The tease information comes from Alcatel USA, who posted an image with some valuable text on Twitter. It seems that the company will showcase the devices at its booth, all next week.

In its post, Alcatel confirmed three devices and their names: Alcatel 5, Alcatel 3V and Alcatel 1X. We catch a glimpse of the trio in an image, which shows the bezel outline of each device’s front side. They vary in size and they vary in appearance, so they’ll likely vary in specs too.

The Alcatel 5, pictured to the left, is expected to be the most powerful of the bunch with a dual camera-setup in front and near bezel-less, 18:9 display. This means the aspect ratio is less wide, but taller than what most of us are accustomed to. We haven’t seen this port over to many mid-range devices yet, so it’s nice to see Alcatel get on board early.

Normally the largest phone is the most high-end but that’s not the case this year for Alcatel. The Alcatel 3V, pictured in the center, is the largest phone of the collection with what could be a 6-inch screen. Alcatel 3V, in addition to Alcatel 1X (pictured to the right) will also boast an 18:9 screen. We expect all three to run Android Oreo and be priced in the $200 to $300 range. US availability is expected this Spring.
