Android 8.0 Oreo beta 2 now available for Essential Phone

We have exciting news for Essential PH-1 owners currently on the Android 8.0 Oreo beta track. Beta 2 is now being rolled out for download and installation. The build number is OPM1.170911.213, and it should include a handful of patches and bug fixes as you would expect.

The first Oreo beta became available in mid-November, and today’s update is a sign of progress. Essential hasn’t listed a change-log and we don’t have a unit on hand, so we’re unsure of what’s included in the package. If you’re an owner who has elected to risk it all and update, drop us a comment letting us know what’s new and we’ll update this post for everybody else.

Essential may or may not roll out an addition beta prior to the official update. As mentioned above, a good quantity of bugs are expected to be fixed from the original beta with this update. Already enrolled beta customers should see the update arrive over-the-air, while those who want to enroll in the program now can head over to the Essential website to learn more on how to sideload and skip the first beta.
