Android 8.1 will bring needed change to the burger emoji

Google doesn’t always get emojis right, but the tech giant is bringing some needed change to a particular emoji with its Android 8.1 Oreo software. Can you guess which it is?

If you guessed the burger emoji, you’re right!

In Android 8.0, users noticed something out of the ordinary about the burger emoji on Google’s keyboard. We’re talking about something utterly simple – the placing of the cheese. In Android 8.0, the patty is on top of the cheese. Is that how you make your burger?

Most people didn’t like this, and so Google is fixing the order of the different burger components in the emoji with Android 8.1. The order will be what it’s supposed to be from top to bottom: bun, lettuce and tomato, cheese, patty, bun.

Android 8.1 is currently in its second beta preview, but is expected to begin rolling out publicly near the very end of the 2017 year. The change will be brought to the burger emoji, as well as an even smaller change to the beer emoji, which now consists of a full glass. Of course, these aren’t the only changes coming. Some major ones include: changes to notification sounds, a new Oreo cookie Easter egg, automatically changing light and dark themes, a search bar in settings, Bluetooth device battery levels, new fonts, and a redesigned power menu. Anyhow, the burger swap will be appreciated by those who were able to even spot the difference.
