If you’re on Verizon or thinking about switching to the carrier, there’s an opportunity to buy Google’s newest flagship smartphone for $400 less than usual. You don’t see an offer with this much savings everyday, though there are some precautions. Here’s what you need to know before making a purchase.
Verizon is running the promotion on only the Google Pixel 2 XL at Best Buy stores and online for a limited time. You don’t see Google phones go on sale very often, but this year has been an exception considering lower than desired sales. We saw a similar deal run a few months ago.
While this deal will be bitter-sweet for some, others might not be aware of what they’re getting into. If you don’t plan on staying with Verizon, you might as well turn away and wait for the Pixel 3 XL because half the savings are bill credits. You’d never see Google wipe $400 clean off a phone in instant savings, but by having partner Verizon on board, it’s made possible with carrier service and monthly payments.
$200 is applied as an instant discount and $200 is applied in monthly bill credits over two years. You have to activate right away, and shall you pay off the phone or leave the carrier before the end of two years, the remaining discount from the bill credits becomes due. Shall you stay on board for two years, you’ll save $400, which on the 64GB Pixel 2 XL means you’ll pay just $18 per month rather than $27 per month and get $200 of instant discount on top. No trade-in is needed and both storage capacities are eligible for this deal. The phone comes in choice of Black & White or Black.
This is an easy recommendation for Verizon customers since it’s the biggest discount around. The Pixel 2 XL is still one of the best Android smartphones available to date, despite being almost a year old. It has a best in class camera and fast-performing stock experience that’s treated to all the latest Android updates. However, you’re essentially tied into a 2-year contract and must put up with some bloat.
The Pixel 2 XL ships free and comes with a warranty. Buyers can sign up with Verizon’s new Above Unlimited plan, mix and match Go and Beyond plans for their family’s devices, and get “more for less.” The product link is below. Do we have any takers? Let us know in the comments.
