Explore Tab, “For You” Section now available inside Google Maps

Google Maps is getting an app update in the US, the one many of us have been waiting for. Not only has the app been redesigned at its core, it has gained major new features. These are the Explore Tab and “For You” sections Google first debuted during its keynote in May.

Google has formally announced the Google Maps update because it’s so massive and dramatically improves the user experience with a handful of changes. The update is rolling out now across all platforms. The remaining features announced at Google I/O will release later this year.

Maps is much more than the navigation app it used to be with new sections that use AI. Maps will give you suggestions for nearby events to attend or restaurants you’re likely to visit based on your liking and past history. Recommendations are catered to your location and can be filtered based on what you’re trying to find. There are also numeric ratings out of 100 for finding good matches.

The app update brings all the travel information you need into one place. From an earlier update for Google Maps, we knew the fan-favorite “For You” tab would be next to roll out. The section is now live and allows one to narrow results based on location and other criteria. Everything is catered to the user, hence why it’s “For You.” The section can be accessed directly from the bottom panel as shown in the images above. The only problem I have with the app is that it’s getting a bit cluttered, though Google could make changes in a future update to streamline things more.

Download the app at the below link in brackets or update your existing app through the Play Store. Let us know if you see the changes on your device.
