Facebook announces new Android TV app for watching video content

Facebook is releasing a new app designed specifically for Android TV. The app makes it easier for users to access videos in their feed and showcase them in front of family and friends on the big screen in the living room.

Facebook has a new app for Android TV, called Facebook Video. The application can be synced to one’s compatible Android TV unit from a phone or tablet, or, installed directly on the console from Google’s Android TV Play Store. Rather than being designed primarily for mobile use, this application was designed natively for the big screen.

Users who choose to install the application on their phone or tablet will be given the option to mirror video content across to their TV, just as if Facebook was Google Chromecast Built-in compatible. Diving deeper, the TV interface presents the user with categories for suggested videos, your videos and Facebook search. Upon watching a video clip, any clip, users will have the option to like the post containing that clip or bookmark it for later, just as they would on a smartphone or tablet.

Facebook Video will roll out on the Play Store in the next few days. If you don’t want to wait, install the Facebook Video APK here via side-load.
