HTC won’t announce a flagship smartphone at MWC 2018

MWC is always full of Android smartphones. However, a trusted source recently reported news coming from an inside source stating that HTC will not present a flagship smartphone in Barcelona next month at MWC 2018. Word is HTC will host a private event after MWC 2018 to introduce a successor to the HTC U 11, which puts us in March or April.

This news is nothing shocking for HTC. Ever since the unveiling of the HTC 10, the company has avoided major trade shows for the introduction of flagship mobile devices. The reason for this could be to avoid Samsung’s Galaxy S9 Unpacked event, which has now been confirmed for the trade show, very unlike the company. LG may have the same justification for rolling back its flagship smartphone announcement, but all remains a secret.

HTC might still present itself at MWC 2018. It wouldn’t surprise us if HTC announced other gadgets, but considering the low number of leaks and reports to this point surrounding an unconfirmed HTC U 12 (or HTC 12), and the fact that an HTC U 11+ was introduced just 2 month’s ago, a successor is bound not to happen for some time.
