Huawei will seemingly join the notch race with its upcoming P20 phones

Huawei didn’t announce any smartphones at MWC 2018, perhaps due to the immense competition. However, the desperate Chinese company did manage to introduce new tablets, confirm a Huawei Watch 3, and share details regarding a private smartphone launch event happening later this month in Paris. At the event, Huawei will show off the long-rumored and much-anticipated P20 phones.

Huawei has been going through some rough times, which began back at CES 2018 in January. The company attempted to gain attention and popularity in the US for the first time in its history with an expansion of Mate 10 Pro, but US carriers weren’t having it. The Chinese company isn’t giving up though, and perhaps its new smartphone collection will bring some much needed optimism.

It looks as though Huawei will join others in following the display notch trend. Like we recently revealed about LG G7 Neo and a handful of other smartphones, newly leaked renders show that a notch should be among our expectations for Huawei’s upcoming 2018 smartphone family. The P20 Series could entail up to three models, a P20 flagship (pictured toward the top), P20 Pro model (bottom) and mid-range P20 Lite (middle).

According to fresh renders from Evan Blass, who is almost never wrong, the Lite variant of Huawei P20 will host a notch as well as a rear fingerprint sensor and dual rear-facing cameras. The P20 Pro is also expected to have the notch up top, but also front-facing speakers and triple Leica-branded rear-facing cameras. The standard P20 is similar but with dual cameras. It is still unclear how Huawei is going to utilize three cameras, but time will tell. As shown in the leaks, there are fresh colors as well. I hope ya’ll like notches!

What do you think of the renders? Let us know in the comments. Full details, availability and release information is just a few weeks away.
