LG G6 smartphone owners in China can now sample Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo software with beta V19A. This is good news, even for those of you who own an LG G6 and don’t reside in China, because it likely means that a public update is just around the corner.
The LG G6 released in the first quarter of 2017, and owners in most regions of the world have some version of Android Nougat. However, now that a beta update is seemingly being administered in China, it shouldn’t be long before more of us gain this opportunity, or, get Oreo in all its official goodness.
The LG G6 is the second smartphone from LG that will receive this update, behind the LG V30 that was first updated in Korea last week. This is a sign of progress being made, hopefully meaning that more LG models will receive Google’s new software in 2018.
The news comes from a Chinese forum where a user posted screenshots of the update change-log. All variants of the LG G6 are compatible with the update, but we don’t have any further confirmation as to who can test the software and who can’t.
