Moto X4 front and back cover leak in new photos

Lenovo’s Moto Z2 Force has made its way to markets, but the rumored Moto X4 has yet to appear.

We’ve heard a great deal about the upcoming smartphone, starting from its incremental moniker to its spec sheet, to a social media photo that mimics what one would expect of press renders. And yet, we know that press renders differ from a device being out in the wild.

Fortunately, we haven’t had to wait too long to see the Moto X4 in all its glory. To this end, Jerry Yin has leaked the device, its front display as well as the back cover. The real-time photos confirm what we expect of the mid-range Motorola smartphone.

First, there’s the display, surrounded by top and bottom bezels. The “Moto” label is up top, followed by a rather short home button/fingerprint sensor beneath the display. The virtual software buttons remain, and, as any good “Nexus” and “Pixel” fan knows, you always keep the back button to the left, not the right at the bottom of the display. The icons remain as expected, for the Android Messenger icon, Google Chrome, Google Photos, Camera, and Phone apps. There is a microphone to the left of the home button with a speaker, microphone, and selfie camera up top to the right of the “Moto” branding. The Moto X4 has a flat display, not surprising for the mid-range.

The back cover shows the Moto X4 with its dual cameras, which matches the rumor from reliable sources. The dual flash is above the two rear cameras (left and right), and the camera hump remains with a circular ring around it. The device appears to have curved edges on its back cover, and the glass design on the front and back also confirms what we’ve seen with the Moto X4. The Moto X4 leaked by Jerry Yin is in a Blue Sapphire or Sapphire Blue color, though the leaked press render showcased a Gold color for the Moto X4. These leaks show at least two colors for the Moto X4, though there could be more.

As for what we know regarding the Lenovo Moto X4, the device is said to feature a 5.2-inch, Full HD (1,920 x 1,080p) display, the Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage with a microSD card slot, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat pre-installed. Motorola could announce its upcoming mid-ranger this week on Thursday, August 24. Android Oreo (Android 8.0) is here, and though it doesn’t appear to be installed, we have no doubt that the Moto X4 will see it at some point.

And, for the cherry on top, the Moto X4 is rumored to be the first Project Fi-compatible phone that isn’t from Google (it’s from Lenovo-owned Motorola). Hopefully, this moves Google to bring more Fi-compatible phones in the future. The Moto X4 is expected to arrive on the market for purchase in Q4 of 2017.
