Motorola has another smartphone in the works, the Motorola One Power

Motorola might have a busy summer season planned with a variety of Android smartphones seemingly on their way. We’re talking about new Moto Z3 phones, a possible Moto X5, new Moto Mods, and now an unconfirmed Motorola One Power. This is the first time we’ve heard of such a device, and it won’t be your typical Motorola or Lenovo smartphone.

How the Motorola One Power managed to slip through the cracks thus far, we don’t know. The device has just leaked for the first time and features a rather interesting and unique set of characteristics. And yes, that’s ‘Motorola’ in the name and not ‘Moto,’ which is an interesting selection. Here’s what we know.

According to Android Headlines, Motorola One Power will be the company’s second-ever handset with Google’s Android One program. This means the device will be aimed at emerging markets and come with a somewhat affordable price tag. Making this possible will be a set of modest specs, in addition to new but lightweight software developed by Google.

We get our first peek at the device’s design in the leak, which exposes an iPhone-X like notch. This would be the first for any Android One phone in the lower-end category, and indicates Google’s commitment to getting the feature right for everyone. The display is also bezel-less and the handset’s rear contains a dual camera. These features are commonly found on high-end smartphones so this is good to see. Sources believe that the Moto X5 may have been cancelled in favor of this model, which may or may not end the long-lived Moto X series for good. As of right now, we don’t know any further detail and things could still change.

A few months back, multiple Motorola devices appeared in a set of leaks. The Moto G6 line is already available both on Verizon and Amazon’s Prime Exclusive List. But the expected Moto Z3 models part of the company’s premium line of smartphones are yet to launch, including the Moto Z3 Play we’ve seen in a handful of leaks along a 5G Moto Mod. Motorola could hold an unveiling this summer. We’ll keep you posted if/when we learn more about Motorola’s upcoming plans for this device and any possible pricing, availability, or release information.
