New Special Edition Razer Phone debuts to commemorate the Chinese new year

Razer jumped the smartphone bandwagon last year when it acquired OEM Nextbit, the company behind the Nextbit Robin smartphone. Just a few months later, Razer Phone was unveiled, and now we have a Special Edition Razer Phone.

The Razer Phone is the first smartphone to have come equipped with a 120Hz display, proof that the company was serious with the phone’s “Tuned for Hardcore Gamers” tag-line. It packs pretty powerful specs including a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 8GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage (expandable), and a large 4,000mAh battery. It was made available last November for a price tag of $699, but now, there’s a new model.

The company recently announced a Special Edition Razer Phone to commemorate the Chinese New Year (CNY). Sadly, the only thing that makes this phone “special” is its Gold Razer logo used on back instead of the Green and Grey ones. Additionally, the CNY version of the Razer Phone comes in new packaging with stickers inside.

While this is nothing to get real excited about, the new model does bring Razer’s newest updates that improve performance. The camera has never been better, according to the company. And added features like HDR and surround sound support for Netflix should make this device even better. We certainty look forward to testing all of it out.

You can score the CNY version of the Razer Phone (unlocked) at the company’s website for the same price tag of $699 (with free shipping).
