Opening teaser released by OnePlus, new OnePlus 6 confirmed

We knew it would only be a matter of time. A new OnePlus device has been confirmed after just five months of waiting. The news broke in the form of a tweet by OnePlus and has revealed the name of an upcoming flagship smartphone. Unsurprisingly, it’s the OnePlus 6.

So far, we have learnt about the next flagship killer other than its questionable design with a notch, textured back panel, fingerprint placement, and USB Type-C charging port. In its first teaser for the device, OnePlus used the tagline “The Speed You Need.” Apart from the information that we know, this tweet indicates a focus on speed. OnePlus doesn’t always include the latest Snapdragon processor, as a way of keeping costs down, but I’m thinking the Snapdragon 845 could power this device with a handful of RAM. This however has not been confirmed. Personally, I’m hopeful for change and improvements to make this a nice upgrade because other OEMs from China have some good bang for the buck phones as well. It won’t be easy to outdo the OnePlus 5T demand, but if the company does what it does best, there’s a chance.

The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are already some of the fastest devices in terms of benchmarks when compared to market rivals. This is due to a light skin atop Android and optimizations OnePlus has made over the years. I think there’s a good chance we should see OnePlus tweak the processor with OnePlus 6 to offer optimal performance. The tweet sure created an interest in me being a OnePlus phone owner myself, and has made me eager to hear more info about the upcoming device. We don’t know anything further be it price, battery capacity or camera, but leaks should heat up as we get closer to an unveiling. This could happen as early as late April or May, earlier than usual.
