August 9 was one of the dates floating around as possible for the Galaxy Note 9 launch event. Thanks to an invite from Samsung, we can now confirm this date as the unveiling of Samsung’s next iteration Galaxy Note. Let the countdown begin.
We finally have the date for Samsung’s Unpacked 18 event after many rumors. The Galaxy Note 9 flagship for the second half of 2018 will be unveiled at a private Unpacked event at an undisclosed location on August 9 with a live-stream on the Samsung website. Rather than save the Galaxy Note 9 for a trade show, Samsung is going the private route with an early launch to get in front of the fall competition.
The Korean Electronics giant confirmed the news in its newsroom and on social media. There will be one Galaxy Note 9 model, one that we’ve been hearing about in all sorts of leaks and reports for weeks now. However, there’s still plenty that we don’t know. The device will succeed last year’s Galaxy Note 8 and is expected to be a marginal upgrade despite poor Galaxy S9 sales. At one point it looked as if the Galaxy Note lineup would be no more. Samsung arguably made the right decision to continue the high-end smartphone line even after the Galaxy Note 7 debacle and achieved record high sales with last year’s Galaxy Note 8.
Earlier today, Samsung also revealed its first teaser video for the upcoming smartphone. While it doesn’t reveal much about the phone itself, we see the return of the infamous S Pen. Except, it has a much larger button on the side and is yellow in color. This year’s S Pen could be improved with new features and maybe we’ll get a yellow Galaxy Note 9 to match? We’ll have to wait and see, maybe there will be some extra accessories. Shipment of the Galaxy Note 9 could begin as early as late August or early September with pre-orders going live earlier. Samsung will have to impress more so with this model than past to redeem itself, and we hope they have something up their sleeve.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information as we get closer to the big event. Let us know what you want to see in the Galaxy Note 9 down in the comments. Let’s hope Samsung brings something good!
