Samsung has been known to release several variants of its flagship smartphones in the past and we’ve been keeping an eye on a possible Galaxy S8 Active for a number of weeks. Today, the expected AT&T exclusive has been detailed in a fresh leak, which by the way signals the possibility of a new durability king.
Earlier in the year, Samsung introduced Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The pair has been on the market for a number of months now, and new colors including Coral Blue have made their way to select markets since the initial point of release. However, recent rumors point toward an upcoming rugged Galaxy S8 Active, and it could be announced just about any day now.
The rumored Galaxy S8 Active, according to the latest leak, will come with a 5.8-inch display and measure 5.99 by 2.95 by 0.39 inches. These dimensions are larger than those of the current Galaxy S8+. The phone is expected to weigh 7.30 oz., feature IP68 water and dust resistance, a sealed 4,000mAh battery cell equipped with fast charging, a shatter-resistant Gorilla Glass 5 Infinity edge display type, and a military-grade MIL-STD-810G certification for added durability. Most other specs such as processor, RAM and storage will likely be the same as the standard models, but do remember that the design will vary heavily from the originals.
The Galaxy S8 Active could soon launch on AT&T in the US running Android 7.0 Nougat. Judging from the most recent leak, the handset will come in two color choices: Meteor Grayand and Titanium Gold.
