The HTC U will be introduced on May 16th

HTC has put out a teaser image on Twitter and a teaser video on YouTube concerning an upcoming smartphone we’ve all come to expect. The HTC U will be officially unveiled on May 16th at an event in Taipei, Taiwan. The very next day is the start of Google I/O.

HTC’s teasers tell us to “Save the Date.” For us living in the United States, the phone will be introduced during the late hours of the night. The time translates over to a 2AM start in EST.

The smartphone will be HTC’s third of the year, and was previously code-named ‘Ocean‘ or ‘Ocean Note’. We’re expecting it to contain mid to high-end specs and include an all-new edge design boarded with ‘Edge Sense’ features. The phone will debut with Sense 9.0, the latest version of the company’s user interface on top of Android 7.0 Nougat.

Disclosed on the teaser is a new line that may be used later alongside ‘For You’ in a marketing initiative. “Squeeze for the Brilliant” could pertain to the new edge panels, which could offer users features we’ve never seen before. Could this be the newborn successor to last year’s HTC 10? We can’t wait to find out. Catch up on all the latest rumors and leaks here and let us know what you think.
