Unicode 9.0 is official, includes 72 new emoji

Unicode version 9.0 is now official! Coming with it are 7,500 new characters and 72 new emoji. Some of them include foods, people expressions, animals, sports, and medals.

Today marks a bid day if you’re into sending emojis. Unicode consists of the designers creating most of the characters and emoji you and I use everyday. Now it’ll be up to Google, Apple and other third-party keyboard makers to implement Unicode 9.0 into their software code. There’s plenty to be excited about in the next generation of emojis. Nearly all 72 are said to be included in Apple’s keyboard for iOS 10 and Google’s own keyboard in Android N. The new set of characters and emojis should also may way to lower software versions with time.

The new emoji range over a bunch of different categories. You can expect new food arrivals like avocado, bread and salad. Also included are bronze, silver and gold medals. New animals like an owl, shark, bat and others are also making the cut. And with every update comes new facial expressions (pictured way above).
