After first introducing the Vivo X20 Plus UD with an unspecified name during CES 2018, Vivo has announced that the phone is to be available through their website next month. Here is what we know.
The glaring new feature on the Vivo X20 Plus UD is its beneath display fingerprint reader. It is the first device ever to use this technology, which has been developed by Vivo and Synaptics. We recently posted an article on some rumors which saw Synaptics as manufacturing an embedded fingerprint sensor for an upcoming Samsung device. Now that Vivo has done it themselves and brought the device to market, it shouldn’t be long before other big companies implement the technology or one similar in devices of their own.
For specs, the phone uses a Snapdragon 660 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Its display measures 6.43-inches diagonally and is of a Full HD resolution (2160 x 1080) with an 18:9 aspect ratio. In terms of cameras, the X20 Plus UD features a 12MP front-facing camera with LED flash and a dual camera on the back. One sensor is 12MP and the other one is 5MP. Battery life should last the whole day thanks to a sealed 3,905mAh cell capacity that can be recharged through USB Type-C.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD starts at $565 USD, but as of right now, is exclusive to those residing in China. Hopefully one day it’ll make way to more regions.
