Get ready for a new flagship killer from OnePlus, who will reveal its first and possibly last flagship smartphone of the year at a private “Speed You Need” event in London. OnePlus 6 is confirmed as the next installment of the high-end line and will launch May 16 with a release to follow. Accompanying the event will be a livestream.

Unlike some Android OEMs who have been struggling to turn a profit, OnePlus has momentum coming off the hot OnePlus 5T. The company has carved out a nice little niche for itself and has been able to satisfy a number of people with its smartphones that sell in many countries unlocked. It’s May, and companies are launching new smartphones left and right. With addition to OnePlus, we have a new flagship from LG and an upcoming model from HTC expected next week. The company run by two CEOs formed in China and has been absolutely killing it, gaining switchers from other OEMs and building loyalty behind the OnePlus brand in several nations. The OnePlus 6 announcement comes just eleven months after the OnePlus 5 and five months after the OnePlus 5T. The six-month release cycle has caused many companies to fail, but OnePlus has made it work for the last two years. For 2018, we don’t yet know if the company will release a OnePlus 6T, so we should focus all our attention on OnePlus 6. There has been a lot of anticipation thanks to reports and leaks, and it’ll be interesting to see if OnePlus can deliver on a phone that could outdo some of the competition this summer.

Accompanying the main event in London will be a showcase in India the next day and presumably pop-up events in major cities during the weeks that follow. There will be an online stream of the London event on YouTube and the company’s site here. We’ll have all the coverage you need right here at Droid Turf the day of the event.

All eyes will be on OnePlus May 16. Fans around the globe are waiting for the clock to tick, and leaksrumors and reports have given much information away, some questions still remain regarding the phone’s software, availability information, pricing, and features. We can’t wait to see what we get.

OnePlus has invited media to attend its unveiling in London. We have posted the livestream directly below, so bookmark this page and tune-in right before the event starts at 12:oopm EDT. As always, you can count on us to bring full coverage, analysis and insight once the event gets going.
