Wear OS has a list of devices receiving the rebrand update

A few days ago, a Google community manager made an important announcement that would rebrand Android Wear to the name Wear OS. The operating system for smartwatches will now be called Wear OS everywhere you see it, and this change continues to roll out in many places.

As promised, we have a list of devices we know for sure will be updated with the platform name change, and there’s more than we expected. As of right now, there doesn’t seem to be anything else that’s new, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. If your device is not listed, there’s a good chance it won’t see the name change over to Wear OS. This is also an indication that it might not receive future software updates, other than minor ones through the new and improved, Wear OS mobile application for your phone. If your device is not listed, Google recommends contacting the manufacturer.

Since the only change is the new name of the OS, the update won’t provide such a boost, at least initially. The change was made because Wear OS smartwatches also work with iPhones. Therefore, dropping the word Android makes sense in avoiding confusion among consumers. We recommend updating the mobile app on your phone to its latest version, which might stimulate the name change update.

All of the below devices are said to reflect the name change with an update over the next few weeks. Most released in the last two years, but there are some old ones. We don’t know how the update is being administered nor do we have an exact date of arrival for every watch. If you see Wear OS appear on your smartwatch, do drop a comment below letting us know where and which device. I only have one device in front of me and it’s not listed, so I guess I’m out of luck. Sorry OG Huawei Watch owners.
