Now that Android P is in alpha form, manufacturers are expected to shift their focus to the next version of Google’s mobile OS. Many Android flagship owners are still without Oreo, which is downright disappointing. So before manufacturers jump on Android P, it would be nice if some companies update their devices to last year’s version to prevent further fragmentation of the OS. OnePlus has been one of many who has at least been trying to update its devices with Google’s Android Oreo software from 2017. Essential had a change in plans for Android Oreo. The company announced several Android 8.0 beta upgrades for its Essential Phone, but later decided to skip the update for Android 8.1. The first Android 8.1 beta was introduced last week, and now the company has come out with a new way to get it.
