Facebook Messenger surpasses 1 billion monthly active users

Facebook_Messenger_bannerFacebook Messenger has now reached over 1 billion people. Facebook reported just minutes ago that its popular Messenger app surpassed 1 billion monthly active users worldwide. This is quite an achievement, one that companies can rarely celebrate due to the hardness in achieving it.

Facebook Messenger has joined the narrow list of apps that have over 1 billion monthly active users. The app has received a plethora of updates this Summer from SMS functionality to end-to-end encryption and all the way to games attracting consumers from all over the world.

Facebook is extremely grateful for the billions of messages consumers send everyday using its Messenger platform. To celebrate, they have implemented an animation to the balloon emoji that you can send to friends to “add a touch of whimsy and delight to any conversation.”

We can’t wait to see where Facebook takes Messenger next. As always, make sure to stay here at Droid Turf  for future Facebook headlines.
