Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy S9: Availability, Pricing and Release Information (Updated)

Samsung officially announced the long-rumored and much-anticipated Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship smartphones. The company took wraps off the pair just prior to the start of MWC 2017 at its Unpacked 2018 event in Barcelona, Spain. As every one of us expected, the new phones are true competitors boarding the latest technology with revamped specifications and an emerging design, modern enough for 2018.

Samsung hit a home run with Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ last year introducing a stunning new design language. This year, the company will look to build further upon its success by capturing those looking to upgrade their older Galaxy smartphone or phone from another manufacturer.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ push every boundary. The Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch display, while the larger sibling Galaxy S9+ features a 6.2-inch display. Both are of a QHD+ resolution and Super AMOLED screen type. Both have the new 18.5:9 aspect ratio that was introduced on last year’s phones, which is taller and narrower. Thanks to minimal bezel and a high screen-to-body ratio, these phones retain one-handed use, at least for some of us. Without the home button and with two curved edges, content on the Galaxy S9 models looks super immersive. Samsung continues to introduce larger screen sizes yet in a smaller footprint, which is really cool. Samsung also has tricks up its sleeve for you to take full advantage of the large screens and new aspect ratio, in its software package. Looking to get your hands on one? Here’s where and when you’ll be able to get Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

If you’re a nerd who’s not excited about these phones, at least a little, than I don’t know what will excite you. Samsung’s “Next Big Thing” will release in markets worldwide beginning March 16, which is earlier than usual, so much so that it may have scared others away from announcing their own flagship devices at MWC 2018. We’ll see if that’s actually the case this week.

Samsung’s newest Galaxy S-series will be available across several continents and on many cellular networks. Some carriers here in the United States are already confirming availability of the new phones, and the Korean giant has also partnered with a slew of retailers to sell the models in stores and online. Before you put in an order, check with your carrier and local retailers for the best deal, because there are a few different promotions floating around. Here’s all the pricing, availability and release information we know thus far.
