Google is working to resolve an issue on Pixel causing mobile data to be disabled

Since the arrival of Android 8.0 Oreo on Pixel and Pixel XL, an issue has plagued some Google users. Google is aware of the issue and is searching for answers to find a resolution.

If your Pixel or Pixel XL is running the public version of Android 8.0 Oreo and you’ve had to re-enable your mobile data setting a few times over the last couple of days, you’re not alone. There seems to be a common issue in the software on Pixel that’s causing mobile data to disable itself automatically. Only Pixel owners on some carriers living in some countries appear to have the bug.

As of September 11, Orrin, a Pixel Community Manager, reached out to Pixel owners on an extensive ongoing thread about the bug that originated over the weekend. Orrin’s exact message is below.

“Wanted to let you all know that we are aware and the team has been looking into the issue of getting the “mobile data has run out” notification. This is a high priority and the team is working towards a fix. For those landing on this thread, please include your location and the carrier that you have”

If you’re getting a notification similar to the one being described above, sit tight for a few days as it should only be a matter of time before Google resolves the issue affecting many via a software update. If you have found any information that could help in solving the issue, leave a comment on the product forum page tagged below as the source and include your location and the carrier that you have.
