Customers of Bank of America, USAA, Discover, BNZ, and mBank are about to get a sweet update. With the update, Android Pay support will be added directly into their apps. This will make it easier for customers to access their own credit or debit cards and transfer payments over-the-air using a compatible mobile device towards an NFC-enabled terminal.
Users of any of the above listed banking services along with the ones that were available previously will no longer need two separate apps. It’ll be possible to do all your banking from inside the app, as it normally was, with the addition of being able to use your cards to make payments. This means there’s really to be no need for the Android Pay application.
The one drawback is that you’ll need to have a card fulfilled with one of the supported banks in order for it to work, which only makes sense if you think about. This should in turn provide a boost to usage of Google’s Android Pay service, which will now be more widespread. Plus, it will set a precedent for other banks to follow suite. With that said, more are expected to add the functionality into their own apps in the future.
