Sprint announces two new unlimited data plans

This week, Sprint announced via its blog not one but two new unlimited plans. It seems that no US carrier is ever settled with the plans they offer, since they constantly change. Sprint is the latest to make changes and add new plans. Things are about to get a little confusing, but we’ll try to simplify things as much as we can.

Sprint’s $15 Unlimited Plan ends today because of high demand

A few weeks ago, Sprint started a promotion that gave new customers a low-end unlimited plan for just $15 per month per line. The offer known as Unlimited Kickstart helped Sprint capture new wireless subscribers because of the low monthly price, but the carrier will no longer be able to keep it up due to higher than expected demand for the service.

Sprint is still in competition with T-Mobile, introduces new Unlimited 55+ plan

Despite the merger of Sprint and T-Mobile, waiting for its approval from the fed, Sprint has gone ahead and introduced a new plan. Unlimited 55+ takes a page out of T-Mobile’s book and will compete against the Magenta carrier’s plan for senior citizens.

T-Mobile and Sprint have officially announced their merger to form a single company which will be named T-Mobile, resulting in a $146 billion valued company with more than 200,000 people employed. Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile parent) will have 42% of the ownership, while SoftBank (Sprint parent) will have 27%.
