OnePlus 5 teaser surfaces

OnePlus 5 rumors are in full swing, which is a good indication that an announcement isn’t far off. And yet, for all the rumors circling around, we have yet to hear that the OnePlus 5 is coming “from the company’s mouth.”

Well, a new leak shows us that a smartphone is on the way (whether or not it’s the OnePlus 5 is a matter still up for grabs).

The new poster above, shared by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, shows work being done on the inside of what appears to be a smartphone. We see the OnePlus symbol at the top left of the yellow poster, which is about all the poster reveals. We know that a smartphone is on the way, but we have nothing definitive yet to reveal whether or not the smartphone in question is the OnePlus 5.

One could assume that the smartphone in question could be something along the lines of a OnePlus X successor, but Lau said around the time of the OnePlus 3 unveil that the company was no longer interested in selling low-end, low-cost smartphones. If we eliminate the idea of a low-cost OnePlus X successor, then the high-end OnePlus 5 is all that remains (at least a high-end OnePlus smartphone, anyway).

OnePlus 5 rumors place the company’s next mobile device as featuring the new octa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, a 1440p, Quad HD panel (though new rumors suggest OnePlus could continue with its 5.5-inch, Full HD AMOLED panels from Samsung), 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a seamless back cover that eliminates the antenna lines of the current models, 16MP dual rear cameras as revealed by a few leaked camera samples, and a 3,600mAh battery – a 25% increase in capacity from the 3400mAh battery of the OnePlus 3T.
